2007/2008 Teacher's Guide

2007/2008 Home School Programs

Stay tuned to Colburn Earth Science Museum throughout the year as we develop special educational opportunities around our traveling exhibitions and visiting scientists. Please e-mail us at info@colburnmuseum.org or mail us so we can let you know what we are up to as programs develop.

All groups contact the education director, Jessica Varney at 828-254-7162 ext. 321 on Tuesday through Friday from 9:00-5:00

Home School 2006/2007

Home school classes begin on September 21, 2006 and end on May 17, 2007. A total of nine classes are offered for both younger (grades K-2) and older (grades 3-5) elementary students. Students will be combined into one program if registration is less than 8 children in any group. Programs are currently only being offered on the third Thursday of each month from 2:30-3:30 PM. However, should the response to our programs be as overwhelmingly positive as they were last year, we will not hesitate to open up a second session.

Maximum class size is 20 students, with the exclusion of the Grove Stone Quarry Trips, for which the maximum is 30 students. Prepayment is required to register.

Cost:

$5.50 per student per program

A .50 discount per student, per program is available for Museum members and for those who register for all 9 sessions.

Please note that all of the programs offered in our Teacher's Guide may be scheduled separately provided the minimum class requirements are met (15 students or $50.00). We encourage home school groups to take advantage of this convenience. See the Teacher's Guide for registration information.

Please contact Jessica Varney at (828) 254-7162 or come by the museum to register.
