Museum Director: Vicky Ballard

Lead Educator and Director of Educational Programs: Summer Concannon

Summer Concannon is the Lead Educator for the Colburn Museum's School Programs. Summer graduated from UNC Wilmington with a B.S. in Marine Biology and a M.S. in Science Education from Oregon State University.  She is a licensed North Carolina Middle/High School Biology and Integrated Science teacher.

Educator: Emily Paul

Emily Paul is one of the educators for the Colburn's School Programs. Originally from Pennsylvania, Emily has been a citizen of Asheville for 4 years. She graduated from Green Mountain College in Vermont with a B.A. in Environmental Studies and completed a Post-Bachelor's Teaching Certificate Program through Drexel University in Philadelphia. She is presently finishing her certification process in Elementary Education.

Weekend Visitor Services Assistant: Judith Cheney

Judith Cheney began working at the Colburn part-time on weekdays in 2001 and has been the Weekend Visitor Services Assistant since the summer of 2004. Judith majored in French at Northwestern University in Illinois and studied at the Sorbonne in Paris. Her previous career experience includes newspaper reporting and column writing. Judith also is a professional artist whose paintings are done in the Americana, or folk or naive art, style.
