Each year, the Colburn Earth Science Museum joins in the fun of downtown Asheville's annual three-day summer street festival, Bele Chere.
At the Colburn's Bele Chere booth, staff and volunteers share information about the Colburn and sell Earth science-related souvenirs from our gift shop, The Crystal Pocket, including geodes from Mexico we can split in half with a geode cracker while festivalgoers watch.
The Colburn is on one level of Pack Place and is accessible to people using wheelchairs. Pack Place has elevators that connect the facility's two public floors and accessible public restrooms.
Affordable, fun educational items, including mineral specimens, books and jewelry, are for sale at the Colburn's Crystal Pocket gift shop. The Colburn also sells crystal-filled, 44-million-year-old geodes from Chihuahua, Mexico, which the Colburn team can crack in half for you during your visit.
